Green Memorial Youth Junior Prayer League
Our Youth Junior Prayer League is always active in organizing trips, activities, and fundraisers throughout the year. They have recently taken a fall trip to the Lazy 5 Ranch in Mooresville, NC, where they enjoyed a hay ride and were able to feed and learn about livestock and exotic animals. Our Youth also plays a very big part in our Christmas program. They work very hard each year putting many hours into practice for their Christmas play. It’s always a great performance with a valuable message. Frequently our Youth will pay a visit to the nursing home(s) to visit our shut-ins. During these visits they socialize, sing songs, and pray. The residents always enjoy it very much.
One of our biggest fundraisers for the Youth Junior Prayer League is our annual Chili Cook-off. Contestants pay a fee to enter the competition and the 1st place winner receives their name on the Chili Cook-off plaque. There are also winners for 2nd and 3rd place. This is always very fun and entertaining for everyone. Come join us in February and compete or just enjoy all you can eat Chili and vote for your favorite.
In the summer months, the Youth group has been taking a trip to Wet’n Wild at Emerald Point. This is an all day water park event that includes lunch and is always tons of fun for all. Also during the summer, our Ice Cream Social takes place. Entries make ice cream and everyone is invited out to enjoy a bowl (or 2 or 3) of their favorite homemade ice cream. Our Youth meetings are held once a month and every so often we have pizza and movie. We would love to have new members, so please contact us if you are interested. We are very proud of our Youth here at GMUMC.
